Don't let us lose The Archers

On Thursday evening, Birmingham writer Luke Kennard sat on a small stage in the packed upstairs room of the Actress & Bishop pub, talking to this paper’s founding editor, Kate Knowles, about his Booker Prize-nominated novel, Black Bag.

As Autumn chilled the outside air, inside, a warming conversation saw Kennard speak to his first Birmingham memories (drinking in, and around, Cotteridge), Brum’s impact on his writing (where in the undergrowth of his latest novel’s prose you can spot Brindley Place and the University of Birmingham campus), and what it's like to raise his sons in the second city. Warming stuff indeed.
