Brum in brief
🥔Spudman uprooted: Viral baked potato trader, Spudman, has been forced off his pitch by Tamworth Borough Council as part of regeneration plans. Ben Newman became internet famous earlier this year for his legendary taters that are piled high with toppings and have attracted visitors from around the world. He serves his spuds by St Editha's Church but he and other traders have been told they have to move temporarily while refurbishments happen. A spokesperson for the council said they are working to find suitable alternative locations for all, but Spudman’s fans think he should hit the road. "Take Spudman around the country and share the love," one posted on social media. More at The Mirror.
💼City boss decided: Birmingham City Council has found a new chief executive — Brummie and Blues fan Joanne Roney is expected to return to her home city following a seven-year stint heading up Manchester City Council. Roney, 62, was raised on a council estate in Shard End and has a CBE and OBE for her services to local government. She was named Municipal Journal Chief Executive of the Year in 2022 and is set to be the 11th Birmingham CEO since the start of the century. While her appointment is yet to be officially announced, confirmation is expected today. More at BirminghamLive.
⚽Lampard for Blues boss?: Frank Lampard could replace Tony Mowbray as manager at Birmingham City Football Club. The 45-year-old former Chelsea and Everton boss has been interviewed by the club and is thought to be high on their shortlist of candidates. But nothing is certain yet — Lampard has reportedly also spoken to Burnley about the potential of taking Vincent Kompany’s old role. Whoever steps in at Blues, the club is keen to get back on track and into the Championship following a shaky season. Football Insider has the details.
